Christmas Gift Guide #1: Healthy Finds Under Fifty

I mentioned in my last post a bunch of goals I am getting started working on (although not the running yet- as a surprise trip to San Diego put a delay on the start of my couch to 5k program).  Being healthy and able bodied is on my mind right now, and while it may not seem like the best of gifts, I have come around to the idea that health gifts are probably one of the best ways to show someone how much you care.  Here are my picks for some under $50 options.  Tomorrow I will be posting a list over at ChubbyCheeksBeauty of some splurgey health gifts in case you have a little more to spend. Penguin humidifier, adorable sinus savior!  ACK! it comes in Owl too!

UV Toothbrush Sanitizer. Not at all obsessed with owls.

Naturebox is a healthy snack subscription that would be an amazing gift for the avid snacker. The three month gift is slightly over the limit here but I have tasted their snacks and its totally worth it.

They don’t have a gift option yet, but creating an account for someone at my yoga online and buying them a couple months will allow them to destress and strengthen from almost any streaming device

These gifts might not be someone’s first thought when they make their list, but I think raising someone’s quality of life is the best gift possible.

Thanksgiving Luxe: Fireside and Football

A lot of families in the US have a Thanksgiving Football tradition. They watch, they play, they strategize. While personally I do not see the appeal of football, I definitely see the appeal of a Thanksgiving outfit that is as comfortable as it is stylish and will hold up in any impromptu touch game.

lets start with a good foundation. Yes you could wear jeans, but the theme is Thanksgiving Luxe and these velvet leggings are every bit as comfortable as a good pair of jeans while looking a heck of a lot dressier. They also play very nicely into the 90’s grunge trend that I am absolutely loving right now.

I love an extra long shirt over leggings and in keeping with the grunge look, I would go with this nice rich red plaid shirt.

You may want to change into a pair of sneakers for the post-dinner kickoff but you will want to spend the rest of the day (and frankly your life) in these Diba Everhart booties. I have a pair in brown and I cannot say enough about these boots. They are so ridiculously comfortable and absurdly adorable I think I might need them in black too.

The best way to finish off an outfit like this is to remember how many of our forebearers got this country in the first place, by sea. This catbird ring is intricate and substantial, perfect alone as statement.

Thanksgiving Luxe: Classic American Beauty

I wanted to kick off my Thanksgiving style series with a look based around classic American sportswear names (especially since I goofed and missed the Canadian Thanksgiving).  When I think American sportswear I think Ralph Lauren, Diane vonFurstenburg, Calvin Klein, Donna Karen and Michael Kors.  I am in love with the way the sweater dress uses the pleats and the stitching on the sweater to give shape.  I had a really hard time finding a good alternative to the plus sized version.  The look has an over-all sleek and slightly New York vibe to it. As a challenge I decided to stick to one store and I found the dress at Nordstrom, so all items are available there.

10 ModCloth picks – October edition

One of the worst things about being a plus-sized gal (aside from the very lame people that make it their mission to make you miserable) is that you often see girls wearing clothes that you love and wish you could style in your own way.  This has happened to me so many times I cannot … Continue reading

Rosie outlook for a relaxing Monday

I Came up with some a new simple rule for myself.  Even on a day where I do not want to leave the house, I will still get fully dressed.  My lounge outfit will look put together and I should be able to run out if the need arises.  I created this polyvore collection inspired by my outfit and accessories today.  These are not the exact items but close enough!
